The United States and Canada are the countries with the biggest restaurant tipping culture, with the average tip in the U.S. being 15-20% and 15% in Canada. On the flip side, there are many other countries that do not tip at all in restaurants. These countries include Australia and Denmark. There are also countries where tip is already included in the price, like Belgium and Chile.

In terms of tipping at hotels, expect to spend a few dollars. $1-2 dollars is common in most countries throughout the world, though many countries in Australasia (like Australia, Japan, Indonesia, and New Zealand) do not require a tip at hotels.

In a lot of countries, tipping for taxi rides is not required. The United States has the highest tipping rate in the world (15%), but it is not required in most countries (including Germany, Italy, Norway, Argentina, South Korea, and Egypt.
